Shamrock
Meet Shamrock Jack a Quaker who is new to our rescue. We do not know yet if Shamrock is a male or female, we will use the word he for now, till we know for sure. We are checking into either DNA or surgical sexing. His previous owner rescued him from an animal control about a year ago, he was quite young at that time, so we estimate him to be about 2 years old now. She is unable to care for him due to a medical condition the owner has, so she asked us to take him in.
He is a nice bird, & he is pictured here with one of our volunteer helpers. The photos were taken the first day he arrived & shortly after he had his wings clipped(for their safety we believe in clipping wings). Shamrock is friendly, nips to warn you, has not ever biten meanly. Children over 10 would be best for this bird.
He is molting a little, so the pin feathers coming in are a little sensative if moved the wrong way. He enjoys sitting on his foster mom's shoulder while she works on the computer. He is a little frighten of new things, so we are going to adopt him with his cage, a few toys he likes & a small bag of food. His adoption fee with the cage will be $175.00.

Gilbert
E-Mail inquiries ONLY--No phone calls please Gilbert is a surgically sexed male Yellow Nape Amazon who is 19 year old. He is new to our rescue and is adjusting well. He came in with a little issue with breathing, but the vet prescribed anti-biotics & he is doing quite well. We had a comprehensive avian blood panel done on him & it came back fine. He did have a little complication when he was surgically sexed, he did not clot properly & had to have stitches, and Vit K shots. Nothing came up on the blood panel, but for his safety all nail & wing trimming will need to be done by a licensed avian vet. He needs to be at a clinic who specializes in birds to make sure if this happens again he can be treated right away, he did bleed easily for a routine nail trimming, but not seriously.
We were told he can talk, but we have not heard him utter a word. He will step up on to his foster mom's arm & has been held by several others. He is fostered in a home with dogs & other birds, but shows no interest in them. He likes to listen to the radio. Gilbert adoption fee is $500.00 without his cage & $650.00 with his cage which is large & has a rack underneath & the top opens & a perch can be placed up there.
You must live within an 80 miles radius of Aurora to adopt Gilbert, we do not ship birds & he does not fly. If you are interested in getting an application on Gilbert please contact his foster mom Debbie via E-mail at dhbirdlover@yahoo.com (No Calls Please). If you have questions please e-mail his foster mom with your questions.
