Cody
Hey there. My name is Cody and I am about 4 years old. I have the best life now and I am so grateful for that. I am probably one of the best dogs you could ever ask for. My Foster Mom is so impressed with me. I have not had one accident in her house and I have not chewed on anything I was not supposed to. I don’t even have to be kenneled when she is not home as I am so well behaved. I know how to walk on a leash, but it takes me some time to make sure it’s safe where I am walking. You see, my vision isn’t too good and I have a hard time seeing when there’s not enough light. I also get nervous when I don’t know where I am as I am deaf. This doesn’t phase me at home as I know where everything is and I know exactly where I am going. When my Foster Mom takes me for walks, we have to stop every now and then so I can regroup. My Foster Mom brings lots of treats with us to make it a good thing for me to visit new places and build my confidence. My Foster Mom and Dad also let me snuggle in bed at night too. I love being able to be held and loved. I let My Foster Mom know in no uncertain terms when I want attention. I will show her my award willing “Aussie Stare”. If this does not work then I will put a paw into her lap and wait. I only have so much patience with getting attention so I will jump up and put my front paws across her lap and roll to the side so she can rub my belly. Belly rubs are the best. I get the best food and get to play out in the snow whenever I want to. I do have an issue with cats though. They don’t seem to want to play like I do and I don’t understand why. They play with each other, but won’t let me join. That’s ok though. I have so many friends here to play with. I really didn’t know life could be this good.
Before I came here, I was used as a stud dog for a backyard breeder. They were only interested in what they could get from me, not what we could give each other. Can you believe that? Breeding me when I am deaf and have vision issues? When they no longer needed me, they threw me into a high kill shelter that was going to gas me. What did I do wrong? Were my puppies not good enough? They didn’t even tell me why they were getting rid of me. I would have done anything to avoid getting dumped like that.
I’m so thankful that my Foster Mom would not let them kill me. She saw me for who I am, not when I couldn’t do. She saved me and Gavyn without thinking twice. Now she is working hard to find me a home that deserves a great guy like me. She’s being a little picky as I have already been through so much and wants to make sure that I never have to go through anything like that again. You think you can fit the bill?
